Want to elevate your apartment bedroom to the next level without spending loads of money? Here are some beautiful apartment bedroom decorating ideas on a budget!
It might be difficult at times to find ways to decorate your apartment bedroom that looks picture-worthy, let alone in an affordable way! I know when I first started to look at ways to decorate my apartment bedroom, I didn’t have a lot of money to spend and was struggling to find inspiration for how I should decorate my room (let alone apartment friendly AND on a budget!) This post highlights some cheap decorating ideas for bedroom and rental apartment decorating that you can incorporate in your own apartment in which you can not only achieve a gorgeous and expensive look but won’t break the bank.
It’s important when choosing decorating ideas that it not only looks chic, but compliments the space within what you’re decorating. When choosing bedroom apartment decorating ideas, we want to compliment the size of the room. Apartment bedrooms are small in nature. We want to choose decor ideas that compliment the small space. We do NOT want to choose decor ideas that make the space smaller.
Here are some ideas that might help with furnishing an apartment on a budget!
Small Apartment Bedroom Decorating Ideas on a Budget
1. Add Plants
Plants not only add color and freshness to your bedroom, but can also act as a chic way to decorate a small space without breaking the bank. Fresh plants are nice because they can also double up to purify the air and remove toxins which might be helpful especially in a small space! However, fake plants can do just the job if your ultimate goal is to bring a space back to life and make your space look picture worthy without spending loads of money! You can choose to add plants on your nightstand or opt for smaller plants like succulents and hang them from wall shelves like the ones linked below. One of the best apartment bedroom decorating ideas on a budget and you have so many options to choose from!
If you want to shop for something similar to the picture, here is a cute set of artificial succulents that you can add to your nightstand or your shelves that can add some greenery into your apartment bedroom for cheap that has really good ratings and is super cute:
2. Adding Area Rugs
For my hardwood floor apartment bedrooms, use an area rug under your bed to make your apartment bedroom look more expensive that it really is and level up the coziness. Area rugs can add a texture component to the space and can really tie your room together regardless of what your decor might be. I know area rugs can be pricy but because apartment bedrooms are rather small in nature, smaller area rugs tend to be less expensive because of smaller dimensions. Amazon has so many options regardless of what your decor is for less than $50! I know $50 is pretty steep but you only need to buy the rug once, if that, and way cheaper compared to other brands out there.
If you’re looking for something similar to the picture, here is a great choice on Amazon that is super affordable and has many other color options to fit your decor space:
3. Statement Rugs
Small statement rugs add not only color and vibrancy but also makes the space super cozy . You can go more towards neutral colors for a monochromatic look or add a pop of color depending on your style. Also adding textural components such as crochet or sea grass can make a space more expensive. Also, don’t be discouraged if you have carpeted floors as adding rugs like this can totally work for a carpeted space!
If you like this statement rug, here is a great and affordable sea-grass inspired rug on Amazon that is less than $30!:
4. Add Mirrors
A popular choice for a reason! Adding mirrors can open up a space and make a smaller space quite larger which makes it such an amazing choice for apartment bedrooms! You can get super creative with the type of mirrors you can add to your apartment bedroom space. Add a floor length mirror to not only double up as decor but also a way to check your outfit before heading out to the door. Or you can make the mirrors be more decor piece and buy ones of different shapes, color, and designs and hang them on the wall.
If you like decor mirror pieces that you can hang on the wall, this one on Amazon is such a great choice and is very cute and affordable:
5. Adding Decorative Pillows/Blankets
Adding a throw blanket or decorative pillows to your bed can make your apartment bedroom look stylish and sophisticated without spending loads of money. You can mix up the pillow choices and opt for varying sizes, textures, and colors. The same goes for blankets! Go for a green or blue throw blanket for an overall neutral bedroom or go for a cream color for an already colorful design to break up the loudness. This is such a cute and cheap way to make a space look more expensive than it really is and you can get quite creative with the different color combinations of pillows and blankets especially during changing seasons.
6. Apartment-Safe Shelves
Apartment-safe shelving can make an apartment bedroom look more expensive and add a rustic look to your bedroom! Opt for floating shelves for a sleek look or a corner shelf display. If you’re not able to drill in your apartment bedroom, you can opt for no drill shelves that are easy to install and remove if needed. You can add them above your bedroom or even in an empty wall that needs a little bit of life! Add picture frames, art, knick-knacks, candles or even plants and color code depending on your decor to further elevate your room!
7. Hang up Art
One of my favorite ways to personalize an apartment bedroom is to add art or picture frames. When living in an apartment, it might be difficult to make a bedroom feel like yours especially when you are renting and have so many restrictions. Art can help elevate a space, add some color, and add a touch of personalization to a room that might feel dull and lack luster. Hang some framed art to your wall, shelves or put it on your night stand to further elevate a small space.
Here are some really cute aesthetic wall art that is less than $15; You can add all 6 onto an empty wall or add them around your room such as on your nightstand or floating shelf! Very cute, versatile, and CHEAP!
8. Wall Paper Stickers
A little bit more bold and time-consuming, but another option to personalize a space is to add remove-able wallpaper to either one part of a wall or the whole space! This can be beautifully done with the right time and patience and the options are endless. Be careful when choosing darker colors as this might close off a space and opt for more lighter or brighter colors to open up a space. And bonus, they are very easy to remove in case you want to change out the design!
9. Adding Small Furniture Pieces
This is probably the most pricier of the options but you can also find some really elegant and chic pieces for very affordable that can make your space look more expensive than it really is! Opt for a beautiful cushion chair or even a small bean bag chair in the corner. Even going for a storage ottoman at the end of your bed to make your space less cluttered if you have lots of things can be such a good option. Options are endless!
If you like this picture, opt for this gorgeous storage bench on amazon for less than $40! Comes in so many cute colors and is also practical when you have lots of things to store without having your room feel cluttered!
